Record exports, product expansion, capacity additions and a multi-powertrain strategy are the foundation of Maruti Suzuki’s next stage of growth in India
Maruti Suzuki India recorded its highest ever annual sales of 24.22 lakh vehicles in FY2025-26 which was accompanied by record exports of 4.47 lakh units. The company has crossed the 20 lakh annual sales milestone for the third consecutive year and believes it can reach its next million vehicles sooner than previously expected through a new framework across multiple disciplines.
The figures are the centrepiece of Maruti Suzuki’s Annual Integrated Report 2025-26, titled ‘The Next Million, New Momentum’. The report attributes the company’s current trajectory to several factors including the recovery of the small car segment, an expanding SUV portfolio, multiple powertrain technologies, higher manufacturing capacity and export growth which has been one of the main highlights.
Maruti Suzuki Chairman R. C. Bhargava expects the Indian passenger vehicle market to reach 61 to 63 lakh units by FY2030-31 with MSIL playing a massive role in it. He also predicts small cars to grow at a faster rate over the next five years than they did during the preceding half a decade period. The company is preparing for this expected expansion through additional manufacturing capacity.

Maruti Suzuki added 5 lakh units of annual production capacity during FY2026-27 while its product strategy will also see a substantial increase in SUVs. The Brezza facelift arrived recently while the inclusion of the Fronx compact SUV coupe and Victoris midsize SUV have been instrumental in expanding its volumes in the SUV space. The brand is now planning for seven new SUVs over the next five to six years.
As we already know, an electric MPV codenamed YMC is currently under development. The forthcoming products will be part of the company’s effort to expand its presence in one of the fastest growing parts of the country’s PV market. It is also pursuing a multi-powertrain strategy as India moves towards lower-emission mobility. Alongside petrol, CNG, hybrid, and electric technologies, Maruti Suzuki is exploring biogas as another source of automotive fuel.
