Aprilia SXR GT 125 and SXR GT 175 bring in 14-inch wheels and revised hp-e engines across the new scooter range
Aprilia has introduced the SXR GT 125 and SXR GT 175 in India for introductory prices of Rs. 1.10 lakh and Rs. 1.30 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). The duo is a major part of the updated SXR line courtesy of new hp-e engines, 14-inch wheels and revised chassis. The Rs. 20,000 difference separates the 125cc model from the larger 175cc version.
The SXR GT 125 is powered by a 124.5cc hp-e engine which is good enough to generate a maximum power output of 10.46 bhp at 7,400 rpm and 10.4 Nm of peak torque at 6,200 rpm. The SXR GT 175 comes with a larger 174.7cc motor rated at 13.09 bhp at 7,200 rpm and 14.14 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The two engines meet BSVI OBD II Stage B requirements and support E20 fuel.
The hp-e engine revisions give both scooters higher output and quicker acceleration according to Aprilia. The company also says throttle response has improved for city traffic as highway cruising becomes easier without depriving fuel economy. The SXR GT 175 gains 2.63 bhp and 3.74 Nm over the 125cc version and there are more differences between them in addition.

The new 14-inch wheels give the GT models a taller stance. The larger wheels are intended to improve stability, steering response and ride quality over uneven roads. The suspension consists of a telescopic front fork and a hydraulic rear shock that gets preload adjustment on both scooters.
The braking setup is common to both versions as a 220 mm disc sits at the front and a 140 mm drum handles the rear. The chassis also stays similar in the 125 and 175 models. The SXR GT 125 comes in Matte Black, Glossy Azzurro and Glossy White, meanwhile, the SXR GT 175 gets Metallic Blue, Matte Black and Matte Green shades.
It enables the larger offering two colour choices unavailable on the 125. The sport-looking models also feature five-inch TFT instrument console with connectivity options, sharper twin LED headlamps, a tall windscreen, a side-mounted exhaust system, sleeker bodywork, etc.
