Mahindra is preparing a fresh wave of SUVs across petrol, diesel and electric segments, with the Thar facelift expected soon and the BE 07 and Vision S following in 2027
Mahindra is not slowing down its SUV offensive. After a busy 2026 that has already brought products and updates across the portfolio, the company has three more SUVs lined up that could further strengthen its position in the Indian market. These include the Thar 3-door facelift, BE 07 and Vision S. However, their timelines are quite different, with the Thar expected to arrive first, while the BE 07 and Vision S are headed towards production in the longer term.
1. Mahindra Thar Facelift
The Thar 3-door facelift is the closest of the three to reaching showrooms. Recent test mules indicate a more comprehensive update than the minor revision introduced in 2025. The biggest changes are expected at the front, including a redesigned grille, new LED headlamps and styling cues inspired by the larger Thar Roxx. New alloy wheels are also expected.
The mechanical package is likely to remain largely unchanged, although reports suggest Mahindra could introduce electric power steering. The current Thar continues with petrol and diesel engine options, along with manual and automatic transmissions and both RWD and 4WD configurations. A launch timeline has not been officially confirmed, although recent reports point towards the coming months.
2. Mahindra BE 07
The BE 07 will be a considerably bigger and more premium proposition. Mahindra’s original plan positioned it for an October 2026 launch, but the company subsequently confirmed that its next electric SUV would arrive only in 2027. The production BE 07 is expected to measure around 4.6 metres and sit above the BE 6 in Mahindra’s electric SUV portfolio. It will use the INGLO platform, with the production version expected to retain the futuristic design language of the concept while offering a more practical cabin. It is likely to compete with electric SUVs such as the Tata Harrier EV and VinFast VF7.
3. Mahindra Vision S
The Vision S is arguably the most interesting of the three because it will take Mahindra into another important segment. The production SUV is expected to sit above the XUV 3XO and is likely to become a compact SUV rival to models such as the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet. It previews Mahindra’s new NU_IQ modular platform, which has been engineered to accommodate multiple powertrains, including ICE, hybrid and electric setups. Mahindra says NU_IQ-based SUVs will begin entering production from 2027, although the final powertrain and specifications of the Vision S have not yet been confirmed.
The three SUVs also highlight how broad Mahindra’s strategy has become. The Thar continues to strengthen the brand’s lifestyle and off-road image, the BE 07 expands its electric-origin SUV portfolio, while the Vision S could bring Mahindra’s newer design and technology philosophy into a much higher-volume compact SUV segment. With the company already targeting continued SUV growth, these three products could become important pieces of Mahindra’s next phase.
