Maruti Suzuki’s has brought in AMT convenience to three of its popular CNG cars as the Swift, Dzire and Baleno have seen their ranges expand

Maruti Suzuki has brought in the automatic CNG versions of the Swift, Dzire and Baleno and they will further help the brand in establishing its leading position in the CNG space. All three get the 1.2-litre Z12E engine with a 5-speed AMT along with the existing factory-fitted S-CNG system. Prices start at Rs. 7.92 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Swift and the Dzire posts the highest certified efficiency at 36.47 km/kg.

1. First Automatic S-CNG Trio

The Swift, Dzire and Baleno now get Maruti Suzuki’s 5-speed AMT gearbox with their S-CNG powertrain. The AMT has an automated clutch and gear-shift mechanism and drivers can also select gears manually through the transmission when required.

2. Dzire Delivers 36.47 Km/Kg

Fuel efficiency differs across the three cars despite their common powertrain. The Dzire leads with a certified 36.47 km/kg followed by the Swift at 35.34 km/kg and the Baleno at 34.47 km/kg. Maruti Suzuki says the Dzire S-CNG AMT is India’s most fuel-efficient sedan based on JATO Dynamics certification.

3. 1.2-Litre Z12E Engine With Two Outputs

All three cars get the 1,197 cc Z12E petrol engine with Dual Variable Valve Timing and Idle Start Stop technology. In petrol mode, the engine kicks out 82.93 PS at 5,700 rpm and 112.4 Nm at 4,500 rpm. The CNG mode lowers output to 69.75 PS at 5,700 rpm and 101.8 Nm at 2,900 rpm. The fuel system includes a 37-litre petrol tank and a 55-litre CNG cylinder measured by water-filling capacity.

4. Factory S-CNG Safety Hardware

Maruti Suzuki’s S-CNG setup gets stainless-steel pipes and joints designed to resist corrosion and leakage. Integrated wiring reduces the risk of electrical short circuits and a microswitch prevents the engine from starting during CNG re-fuelling. The system also gets Intelligent Injection for air-fuel management and Idle Start Stop for reduced fuel consumption in traffic.

5. CNG Sales Are Rising Fast

Maruti Suzuki reported a 58 per cent YoY increase in CNG sales during the first quarter of the current financial year. The month of July 2026 also produced the company’s highest ever monthly CNG volume at 83,000 units. The new automatic versions give the Swift, Dzire and Baleno another drivetrain choice at a time when CNG already accounts for a significant part of Maruti Suzuki’s passenger car volumes.
