New Black Diamond treatment gives TVS’ flagship Apache duo a darker look for the festive season

Last week, TVS Motor Company introduced the Black Diamond Editions of the Apache RR 310 and Apache RTR 310 in India along with a raft of updates for the Apache range. The special editions are based on the top-spec quickshifter-equipped variants and receive an exclusive all-black livery. The RTR 310 Black Diamond Edition is priced at Rs. 2.48 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and the fully faired RR 310 costs Rs. 2.87 lakh.

The RR 310 also gains Keyless Ride with this festive update – a feature already offered on the RTR 310. Both motorcycles carry several electronic rider aids and some of them are cruise control, cornering ABS, cornering traction control, launch control and drag torque control. The Apache 310 range also offers Dynamic Stability Control on relevant configurations along with multiple ride modes and a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster.

The RR 310 uses a 312.2 cc liquid-cooled, reverse-inclined single-cylinder DOHC engine. In Sport and Track modes, the motor develops 38 PS at 9,800 rpm and 29 Nm at 7,900 rpm. Output drops to 30 PS and 26.5 Nm in Urban and Rain modes. The engine works with a 6-speed gearbox and slipper clutch. TVS quotes a top speed of 164 kmph, 0 to 60 kmph in 2.82 seconds and 0 to 100 kmph in 6.74 seconds.

The RTR 310 gets a closely related 312.12 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with electronic throttle control. It produces 35.6 PS at 9,700 rpm and 28.7 Nm at 6,650 rpm in Sport, Track and SuperMoto modes. Urban and Rain modes reduce output to 27.1 PS and 27.3 Nm. TVS claims a 150 kmph top speed, 2.81 seconds between 0 and 60 kmph and 0 to 100 kmph in 7.19 seconds.

The RR 310 uses a trellis split frame, inverted cartridge front forks and an aluminium swingarm with a gas-assisted rear monoshock. It rides on 17-inch wheels with 110/70 front and 150/60 rear tyres with 300 mm and 240 mm disc brakes. Ground clearance measures 180 mm, seat height stands at 810 mm and kerb weight is 174 kg with a fuel tank capacity of 11 litres.

The RTR 310 uses a hybrid trellis and cast-frame structure with 43 mm USD front forks and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. Its 17-inch wheels carry 110/70 front and 150/60 rear tyres – backed by 300 mm and 240 mm discs with a dual-channel ABS system. Seat height is lower at 800 mm, ground clearance is 180 mm and kerb weight stands at 169 kg.
