Hyundai will launch the next-gen Venue on November 4; The bookings for the compact SUV have already commenced
Generation upgrades in the automotive industry are an important part of a product lifecycle, giving the model a fresh breath of life, along with bringing it up to speed with the changing market dynamics. In India, a slew of cars are due for a generation update in the year 2026-2027. In this article, we will look at some popular SUVs ready for a new generation model in India.
1. New-Gen Hyundai Venue
The new Venue has already been revealed, and Hyundai has also officially commenced the bookings for the compact SUV. Scheduled for a price announcement on November 4, the next-gen model sports an all-new design language, while being taller and wider than the outgoing model. Inside the cabin, a new layout with a dual 12.3-inch display setup is a part of the package. Under the hood, the Venue retains the familiar 1.2 petrol, 1.0 tGDi petrol and 1.5-litre CRDi diesel, however, the diesel engine now gets the 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox option.

2. New-Gen Kia Seltos
The second-generation Kia Seltos is expected to debut globally by the end of 2025. The India launch is likely scheduled by mid-2026, and the new Seltos will feature comprehensive updates inside and out. Internally codenamed SP3i, the Korean carmaker will introduce a strong-hybrid powertrain with the new Seltos, along with the familiar petrol and diesel engine options. The hybrid Seltos is expected to use the familiar 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with the strong hybrid setup.
3. New-Gen Tata Nexon
As per the reports, the next-gen Nexon is currently under development. It is expected to launch sometime in the year 2027. Internally codenamed ‘Garud’, the new model will reportedly carry forward the heavily reworked version of the existing X1 platform. Besides this, a new design language along with a fresh cabin layout will be part of the package. The upcoming new-gen Nexon will likely continue with the familiar 1.5-litre turbo diesel and 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, available in both petrol and CNG fuel options.

4. New-Gen Hyundai Creta
The best-selling mid-size SUV in the Indian market will receive its third-generation update in 2027. Internally codenamed SX3, the development of the next-gen Creta is reportedly underway. While the details are scarce at the moment, the upcoming SUV will likely get a new strong hybrid powertrain, which will be shared with the new-gen Seltos, comprising a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The existing naturally aspirated petrol, turbo petrol and turbo diesel engines will be retained, mated to the manual and automatic gearbox options.
5. New-Gen Renault Duster
After discontinuing the first-generation model in 2022, Renault is ready to launch the third-generation Duster in the Indian market. The 2nd-gen model never made it to the Indian shores. Based on the CMF-B platform, the new-gen Renault Duster will go on sale in the domestic market early next year, i.e. 2026. Under the hood, the new Duster is expected to get the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, putting out 154 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. In addition to this, the 140 bhp 1.6-litre petrol strong hybrid option is also expected to join the line-up at a later stage.
