5-Door Suzuki Jimny Nomade Bookings Reopen, Waiting Period Up To 4 Years

GaadiWaadi -

maruti suzuki jimny 5-door export milestone

The reservations for the Suzuki Jimny Nomade have reopened after months of suspension, much to the relief of buyers in Japan

Maruti Suzuki’s India-built Jimny 5-door continues to garner big numbers across global markets, even as it struggles to find similar customer base at home. While Indian buyers have shown limited enthusiasm for the SUV, it’s quite the opposite story in Japan, where the same model – sold as the Jimny Nomade – has become a runaway success.

When Suzuki launched the Jimny Nomade in Japan in April 2025, the response was nothing short of staggering. Bookings shot past 50,000 units within just four days of its debut, forcing the brand to halt reservations due to overwhelming demand. The waiting period eventually stretched to nearly four years – an apparent indication of the cult following the compact off-roader enjoys in its home market.

After months of suspension, Suzuki has now reopened bookings for the Jimny Nomade – bringing a sigh of relief to thousands of eager customers. For Maruti Suzuki, the Indian-made Jimny 5-door recently crossed cumulative exports of over one lakh units. The SUV, which began production in India in 2023, has reached more than 100 international markets including Japan, Australia, Mexico, Chile and South Africa.

The Jimny 5-door is now Maruti Suzuki’s second highest exported model after the Fronx. The Jimny Nomade represents the first-ever five-door configuration in the legendary off-roader’s long history. It retains the signature strengths of the Jimny family – a 4WD system, a ladder frame chassis and a low-range transfer case in Japan.

The longer wheelbase and added rear doors make ingress and egress smoother while also increasing luggage space. Visually, the Nomade sticks to the familiar upright and boxy design of its predecessor. The five-slot grille gets a gunmetal finish with a chrome-plated surround and buyers can choose from six exterior colour schemes.

They include the Sizzling Red Metallic and the Celestial Blue Pearl Metallic – both new additions to the Jimny palette. Mechanically, the SUV continues with the FR layout and part-time 4WD system paired with a 3-link rigid axle suspension setup. Suzuki engineers have reinforced the ladder frame to handle the extra length and weight.

The extended wheelbase has also improved high-speed stability and overall road manners. The Jimny Nomade comes equipped with Suzuki’s Dual Camera Brake Support system for collision mitigation as standard while the automatic versions add adaptive cruise control. The Jimny Nomade’s success in Japan serves as a reminder of how the compact 4×4’s timeless appeal continues to resonate with consumers. Even if Indian buyers remain lukewarm, the global appetite for the 5-door Jimny shows no signs of slowing down!

Kia Carens CNG carries a warranty of three years or 1,00,000 km – the same coverage offered on Kia’s regular models

Kia India has expanded its Carens lineup with the launch of a CNG variant – targeting buyers who prioritise running economy. Instead of rolling out a factory-installed CNG version, the company has opted for a dealer-level installation through a certified Lovato kit. The setup is approved by the government and will be fitted at authorised dealerships.

The Kia Carens CNG carries a warranty of three years or 1,00,000 km – the same coverage offered on Kia’s regular models. Priced at Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base Premium (O) petrol trim, the CNG configuration demands an additional Rs. 77,900 compared to the standard variant – making it a worthy consideration.

Despite being a dealer-installed system, the company ensures that warranty and reliability standards are maintained. Under the hood, the Kia Carens CNG continues with the familiar 1.5-litre Smartstream four-cylinder NA petrol motor producing a maximum power output of 113 hp and 144 Nm of peak torque. It is linked with a six-speed manual gearbox.

It comes in a seven-seat configuration and rivals the top-spec trims of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. On the inside, Kia continues with two-tone black-and-beige interior theme – complemented by indigo accents across the dashboard and door pads along with the semi-leatherette upholstery.

The second row offers a 60:40 split function with slide, recline and tumble adjustments while the one-touch electric tumble makes accessing the third row easy. The last row itself features a 50:50 split and can be folded flat to increase luggage space. Additional features include rear door sunshades, AC vents for all three rows and five USB Type-C charging ports.

5+ New Mahindra Premium SUVs Arriving In 2026-27 In India

GaadiWaadi -

Mahindra Vision X (1)

Mahindra is working on multiple SUVs utilising ICE, hybrid and all-electric powertrains and they will launch over the next couple of years

Mahindra & Mahindra is laying the groundwork for new products over the next two years. The company is working on multiple SUVs utilising ICE, hybrid and all-electric powertrains and test prototypes have already started making regular appearances on public roads. The refreshed XUV700 will arrive first in early 2026 followed by a string of premium electric models.

The updated XUV700 gets revised bumpers, sleeker headlamp clusters and newly designed alloy wheels. The flush-fitting door handles will stay put when viewed from the sides. Around the back, minor styling tweaks and new body shades are likely. Inside the cabin, Mahindra is preparing to raise the bar with more premium textures.

Expect improved upholstery, new dashboard finishes and a layout that feels more cohesive and upscale than before. A completely reworked cockpit will feature a triple screen arrangement, merging a larger infotainment system with a digital driver’s display and a dedicated passenger-side interface. Powertrain choices, however, are set to remain familiar.

The XUV.e8 based three-row SUV, a battery-powered evolution of the XUV700, has entered its final testing phase and could see the light of day as early as next year. It will mirror the size and stance of its ICE counterpart but adopt a smoother front fascia, sealed-off grille, and unique LED lighting signatures to establish its EV identity.

The interior will reportedly draw heavy inspiration from the brand’s born-electric range – integrating more connected features and digital interfaces. Further up the range, Mahindra is believed to be developing the BE Rall-E – a more adventure-ready take on the BE 6. It will emphasise off-road prowess with an enhanced suspension setup and reinforced exterior cladding.

Power will come from the same electric drivetrains found in the BE 6. Meanwhile, the brand’s lifestyle EV program is also gathering momentum. The Thar EV concept was recently showcased – previewing a five-door electric off-roader. A zero-emission Scorpio is said to be under internal evaluation as well and it could be based on Vision S.

Both are expected to be based on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform which enters production by 2027 and will underpin a series of upmarket SUVs. A compact SUV, possibly a baby Scorpio N, is also being tested on roads while the Vision X concept based compact crossover is also expected to arrive in the near future.

3 New Hyundai Hybrid SUVs To Watch Out For In India – Vital Info

GaadiWaadi -

2025-Hyundai-Palisade-1.jpg

The next-gen Hyundai Creta, a three-row premium SUV and the Palisade are expected to arrive in India with hybrid powertrain options

Hyundai is said to be preparing a trio of hybrid SUVs that will roll out over the next few years as part of its wider electrification roadmap which comprises multiple hybrid vehicles. The lineup will likely include a brand new three-row model positioned above the Alcazar, the next-generation Creta and possibly the long-anticipated Palisade.

The upcoming Creta, internally known as SX3, will mark a major departure from the current generation when it arrives around 2027. The SUV is expected to sit on a completely new platform with revised proportions, a more sculpted design language and a new interior design. Hyundai has reportedly started groundwork for the model even as it prepares to introduce the next-generation Venue next week.

Powertrain options are likely to include the familiar 1.5-litre petrol, turbo petrol and diesel engines while a hybrid variant is said to be in the works. Interestingly, a facelifted version of the Creta EV could follow once the ICE iteration makes its debut sometime in 2027. On the premium side of the range, Hyundai appears to be studying the feasibility of bringing the Palisade Hybrid to India.

Internationally, the SUV features a 2.5-litre turbo petrol engine working in tandem with an electric motor that together generate 334 hp and 460 Nm of torque. Despite its hefty size, the setup delivers efficiency figures exceeding 14 kmpl. Should Hyundai give the green light, the Palisade Hybrid could reach Indian showrooms by 2028.

A third and equally intriguing project under development is a new three-row SUV currently known by the codename Ni1i. To sit between the Alcazar and Tucson, the C-segment SUV is expected to utilise a modified version of Hyundai’s 1.5-litre petrol engine adapted for hybrid use. While Hyundai has yet to make any official announcement, speculations indicate that the Ni1i could enter production by 2027.
