TVS Overtakes Honda In Scooter Sales For The First Time In July 2026

TVS iQube Electric Test Ride Review -18

TVS posts 40 per cent growth in July as Honda’s scooter volumes fall 12 per cent pushing TVS to the top of the segment’s sales chart in July 2026

TVS Motor Company has overtaken Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India in monthly scooter sales for the first time in July 2026 as it has ending Honda’s long-standing position at the top of the segment. The Hosur-based manufacturer recorded 2,56,675 scooter sales during the month compared to Honda’s 2,33,337 units which led to a notable lead.

The change comes after a steep divergence in the two manufacturers’ volumes. TVS registered a 40 per cent year-on-year increase from 1,83,607 units in July 2025 – adding 73,068 scooters. Honda, meanwhile, declined from 2,65,587 units to 2,33,337 units – a fall of 32,250 units or 12 per cent. The good reception of TVS’ electric scooter range is the primary reason.

The iQube is currently the best-selling e-scooter in the country and its volumes certainly help in TVS attaining top status as the leading manufacturer in the segment. TVS consequently raised its share of the scooter market from 28.46 per cent in July last year to 32.15 per cent in July 2026. Honda’s share moved in the opposite direction – falling from 41.17 per cent to 29.23 per cent over the same period.

The Japanese brand has the Activa as its top-seller but its electric range has not really grabbed attention as the brand would have hoped. Suzuki Motorcycle India held third place after recording 1,20,998 units – up from 94,296 units a year earlier. The increase of 26,702 units resulted in a 28 per cent growth while its market share edged up from 14.61 per cent to 15.15 per cent.

Hero MotoCorp also recorded a notable increase – selling 61,347 scooters compared to 45,989 units in July 2025 courtesy of the Vida range. Its volumes rose 33 per cent while its share increased from 7.12 per cent to 7.68 per cent. Bajaj Auto registered the highest percentage increase among the established manufacturers due to the expansive Chetak portfolio.

Its scooter volumes rose from 12,134 units to 48,684 units with a massive 301 per cent jump and its share consequently climbed from 1.88 per cent to 6.09 per cent. India Yamaha Motor posted 36,783 units during the month – up 53 per cent from 24,110 units in July 2025. Yamaha’s share rose from 3.73 per cent to 4.60 per cent.

The electric scooter manufacturers also recorded substantial gains. Ather Energy sold 31,044 units as it more than double its July 2025 tally of 15,096 units resulting in 106 per cent growth. Its market share increased from 2.34 per cent to 3.88 per cent. River Mobility recorded 6,039 units against 1,853 units a year earlier with a 226 per cent growth thanks to Indie.

Piaggio Vehicles posted 3,283 units – up 40 per cent from 2,350 units in July 2025. As a whole, the scooter sales stood at 7,98,190 units in July 2026 – up 24 per cent from 6,45,022 units during the same month last year. TVS accounted for nearly one-third of the total market during the month while Honda slipped below the 30 per cent.

5 Upcoming Hyundai SUVs In India – Hybrids & An EV Included

GaadiWaadi -

2027-Hyundai-Tucson-New-1.jpg

Hyundai is preparing a wider product offensive with new SUVs, a mass-market EV and more adventurous models for the Indian market

Hyundai’s upcoming product pipeline is beginning to look considerably more interesting. Well, it ought to be as Hyundai India has had a quiet few months as far as new launches are concerned. The company has already confirmed two new SUV nameplates for FY2026-27, while a new-generation Creta, a compact EV and larger SUVs are also being planned. Some of these products are confirmed, while others remain at the speculation stage. Here’s what to expect from five of the more interesting Hyundai models heading our way.

1. Hyundai Bayon

Hyundai Bayon (2)

The Hyundai Bayon-based SUV is arguably the most immediate launch on this list. Codenamed Bc4i, it has already been spotted testing in India and is expected to sit alongside the Creta rather than below the Venue as was originally thought. The SUV is expected to measure around 4.18 metres, giving Hyundai a second midsize SUV and putting it directly against products such as the Maruti Victoris and Grand Vitara. It is expected to get a naturally aspirated petrol engine, while CNG and diesel are also being considered.

2. Next-Generation Hyundai Creta

Spy Source: amarttyajit_sinha/instagram

The third-generation Creta, internally codenamed SX3, is expected in India in 2027 and will reportedly bring a much more significant overhaul than a conventional facelift. The SUV is expected to grow in size and get a more modern design, upgraded interiors and additional safety and technology. Something we saw with the Kia Seltos as well. Hyundai is also working on the possibility of a strong-hybrid powertrain, potentially making the next Creta its first hybrid model. The existing 1.5-litre petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel engines are also expected to continue, although the final combination remains unconfirmed.

3. Hyundai Compact EV

upcoming-hyundai-compact-ev-rendered-india.jpg
Rendering

Hyundai’s next major step into the mass-market EV space will be a compact electric SUV, expected to be based on the global Inster and internally known as HE1i. It is expected to be built locally in India and will take on the likes of the Tata Punch EV. The global Inster uses 42 kWh and 49 kWh battery packs, with WLTP ranges of around 300 km and 355 km, respectively, although the India-spec model is expected to be substantially localised. Hyundai has confirmed that a localised compact EV is part of its India strategy, with launch timing expected around the 2026-27 period.

4. Hyundai Boulder

Hyundai Boulder Concept 2
Hyundai Boulder Concept 2

Hyundai could also enter the hardcore off-road SUV space with the Boulder. Previewed as a rugged concept, the Boulder features a boxy silhouette, high ground clearance and a much more aggressive design than Hyundai’s current SUV range. The production version is still some distance away, with current estimates pointing towards 2028, and there is very little confirmed information on its powertrain or India-spec hardware. The important bit is that Hyundai appears to be exploring a genuine off-road product rather than simply another urban SUV with plastic cladding.

5. Hyundai Ni1i: New 7-Seater SUV

2027 Hyundai Tucson New

The fifth model is the Ni1i, Hyundai’s proposed three-row SUV that is expected to sit above the Alcazar and take on the likes of the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari. The project has been discussed for some time and was initially expected to arrive around 2027, potentially with a strong-hybrid powertrain shared with the next Creta. However, the project appears to have gone relatively quiet, and Hyundai’s latest comments suggest it is unlikely to arrive before late 2027 or later. In other words, this one is still very much a wait-and-watch proposition.

Hero Impulse Could Make A Comeback – New ADV Patented

GaadiWaadi -

Hero New ADV patent (2)

Hero MotoCorp has patented a new compact adventure motorcycle that could revive the spirit of the discontinued Impulse

Hero MotoCorp could be preparing another entry into the affordable adventure motorcycle space. Fresh patent information points towards a compact ADV that appears smaller and simpler than the Xpulse 200, once again bringing the discontinued Hero Impulse into the conversation. There is no confirmation that the new motorcycle will actually be called Impulse, but the similarities in philosophy are hard to ignore.

The original Impulse was Hero’s first motorcycle after the company’s split with Honda and was quite an interesting product for its time. It offered an off-road-focused design with a relatively lightweight body, but its 149 cc engine meant it struggled to attract buyers who wanted stronger performance. The market has changed considerably since then, and Hero’s Xpulse range has shown that there is now a genuine audience for affordable adventure motorcycles.

The new patent motorcycle appears to follow a similar formula but with a more modern base. It gets long-travel suspension, a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel, giving it the kind of hardware expected from a proper off-road-oriented motorcycle. The design also features a raised front section, knuckle guards and a relatively slim body, suggesting Hero is prioritising low weight and trail ability rather than making another highway-focused adventure tourer.

Hero New ADV patent
Hero New ADV patent

The engine is where things get particularly interesting. The test motorcycle seen previously appears to use a smaller air-cooled engine, which is believed to be related to Hero’s 163 cc powertrain. If Hero uses the 4-valve version, it could make around 16.9 PS and 14.6 Nm, paired with a five-speed gearbox. These figures remain speculative for now, but they would give the motorcycle a useful step up over the old Impulse while keeping it comfortably below the Xpulse 200 in terms of performance.

Hero also appears to be keeping the hardware relatively simple. The motorcycle has conventional circular disc brakes, rather than the larger petal discs seen on the Xpulse 200, while the radiator and oil-cooling hardware visible on the Xpulse 200 are absent. This suggests that Hero is looking at a lighter and more affordable package rather than simply developing a smaller version of its existing ADV.

The Xpulse 200 currently weighs around 159 kg in standard form, so a smaller motorcycle built around the 160 cc platform could potentially come in considerably lighter. For someone who spends more time on trails and broken roads than on highways, that could actually be more useful than having another 200-plus cc ADV with more weight and power.

Hero could position this motorcycle below the Xpulse 200, or even use it as a spiritual successor to the Impulse. That would give the company a genuinely affordable off-roader while allowing the Xpulse 210 to take care of riders looking for more performance and long-distance touring ability.

2026 Skoda Slavia Facelift Key Variant-Wise Features, Specs & Colours

GaadiWaadi -

2026-Skoda-Slavia-Facelift-3.jpg

The 2026 Skoda Slavia facelift spreads new tech, safety kit, exterior and interior updates and colour options across six variants from Classic to Monte Carlo

The updated 2026 Skoda Slavia keeps its six-variant range comprising Classic, Classic+, Signature, Sportline, Prestige and Monte Carlo while pushing several features further down the range than before. As before, three engine and gearbox combinations run across the lineup: a 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol with either a 6-speed manual or a new 8-speed torque converter automatic, the latter a first-in-segment addition and a 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol linked only with a 7-speed DSG unit.

The former makes 110 PS and 178 Nm while the latter develops 150 PS and 250 Nm. The screen sizes climb in step with the trim ladder. Classic and Classic+ stick with analogue dials and a 17.7cm touchscreen while Signature and Sportline move to a 20.32 cm console alongside a larger 25.6 cm touchscreen running an AI assistant powered by Google Cloud.

Prestige and Monte Carlo top the range with a 26.03 cm instrument cluster that adds turn-by-turn navigation along with inbuilt connectivity not offered lower down. The safety equipment list follows a similar pattern as Classic+ and above get 6 airbags plus more than 25 safety features – a notable jump from the base Classic trim. Camera provisions scale from a rear-view unit on Signature to a full 360-degree view system from Sportline and upwards.

2026 Skoda Slavia Facelift 1

The Prestige and Monte Carlo alone get an electric openable sunroof with automatic climate control plus a rear seat massager – a first-in-segment feature. The wheel designs change by variant too – steel wheels with covers on the base Classic through R16 alloy designs across Classic+, Signature, Sportline and Prestige and up to a Monte Carlo-specific alloy design finished differently from the rest of the range.

It must be noted that ten exterior colours are available in total including two new additions – Arctic Silver and Cappuccino Beige – but Cappuccino Beige’s deliveries will only begin in December 2026. Availability varies significantly by variant too as Classic gets just five colours while Signature, Sportline and Prestige each offer eight.

2026 Skoda Slavia Facelift Interior

The Monte Carlo takes a distinct approach altogether with several shades including Shimla Green, Steel Grey, Brilliant Silver, Candy White and Cherry Red – appearing exclusively in dual-tone form rather than the single-tone finish offered elsewhere. The exterior gains new LED DRLs, revised front and rear bumpers with new detailing, LED tail lamps with sequential turn signals, SKODA lettering at the back and so on.

Second Batch Of Skoda Octavia RS Announced For India, Coming Soon

GaadiWaadi -

Skoda Octavia RS (2)

The second batch of Skoda Octavia RS will be limited to just 50 units – half of what the first allotment featured; bookings open and deliveries to begin this festive season

As Skoda entered a quarter century in India, the Octavia RS was launched as via CBU channel to celebrate the occasion late last year. Priced at Rs. 49.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the performance sedan was sold out within just 20 minutes of commencement of pre-bookings and it was limited to just 100 units reiterating the good reception for the nameplate.

The Octavia RS has a special place in Skoda’s Indian legacy. The original model, introduced in 2004, was the country’s first turbocharged petrol car and quickly became an enthusiast’s favourite. During the announcement for the Kodiaq RS, Skoda confirmed preparations for bringing in the second batch of Octavia RS earlier this year.

Yesterday, the brand introduced the facelifted Slavia with exterior and interior updates while confirming plans for the Superb diesel next year. At the same event, the second batch and allotment for the Octavia RS was also divulged. This time around, it will be limited to just 50 units and it will be launched in the coming months ahead of the start of customer deliveries this festive season.

Skoda-Octavia-RS-Auto-Expo-2025-1.jpg

The model gets a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine kicking out 265 PS and 370 Nm. The sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.4 seconds while its electronically restricted top speed stands at 250 kmph. The chassis has been configured around the RS’s high output powertrain featuring sports suspension and progressive steering. Skoda has also given it a set of 19-inch Elias anthracite alloy wheels wrapped in 225/40 R19 tyres.

The combination is coupled with RS-specific exterior detailing, glossy black elements, full-LED Matrix headlamps and LED tail-lamps featuring dynamic indicators. The Octavia RS measures 4,709 mm in length, 1,829 mm in width, and 1,457 mm in height. Its 600-litre boot can be expanded to 1,555 litres. The exterior colour palette consists of Mamba Green, Candy White, Race Blue, Magic Black and Velvet Red.

On the inside, the Skoda Octavia RS gets an 11-speaker Canton audio system, Suedia and leather upholstery, red contrast stitching and sports seats. The front seats feature electric adjustment, memory, heating, and massage functions. Ambient lighting and a digital Virtual Cockpit add to the cabin specification. The dashboard houses a 32.77 cm infotainment system featuring wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Three-zone climate control and wireless smartphone charging are also part of the equipment list while a Head-Up Display provides additional driving info. The safety package comprises 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, ISOFIX mounts and advanced stability systems. All-New Hyundai Tucson SUV Debuts With Radical Design & Packed Interior

GaadiWaadi -

2027 Hyundai Tucson New

The Hyundai Tucson’s fifth generation comes alive with a radically new exterior, wider cabin and a more premium features list

Hyundai has unveiled the all-new Tucson in its fifth generation avatar which arrives six years after the outgoing model was launched in late 2020. The Korean auto major has framed the new SUV around a radically new exterior alongside class-leading interior space. The rear of the SUV gains a full-width lighting bar running across the tailgate with a vertical red light element built into each side and the Hyundai badge sitting centrally between “TUCSON” lettering.

Squared-off wheel arches and a boxier overall stance replace the edgy body panels of the outgoing model and a raised roof spoiler sits above a near-vertical rear windscreen. The front end gets a redesigned nose dominated by a sleek full-width light bar placed above a blacked-out lower grille section. The vertical daytime running lights sit further down at each corner – described by Hyundai as H-edge lighting inspired by architectural design.

Hyundai says the front lighting draws on the brand’s “Art of Steel” design language built around an indirect lighting structure where the light source itself stays hidden from view emphasising the surfacing rather than the lamp housing. Dimensions grow across the board as well as the new Tucson measures 4,700 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width and 1,685 mm in height and it rides on a 2,785 mm wheelbase.

2027-Hyundai-Tucson-New-1.jpg

The overall length has increased by 60 mm and the wheelbase by 30 mm over the outgoing model while width has grown by 40 mm. The second row headroom has risen by 29 mm to 1,031 mm and the opening angle of the rear doors widened to 83 degrees from 73 degrees for easy entry and exit for rear passengers. On the inside, it is apparent that the cabin is built around two connected displays sitting under one shared housing – a digital instrument cluster on the left along with a larger touchscreen running navigation and media on the right.

A two-spoke steering wheel with physical buttons sits ahead of the driver while orange-toned ambient lighting runs along the lower dashboard and door panels. It is set against light coloured leather upholstery across the front seats and door trim. As many as eight exterior colours will be offered at launch including five new options and three of which Hyundai has named as Serenity White Pearl, Driftwood Gray Matte and Driftwood Gray Metallic.

2027 Hyundai Tucson New Interior

An XRT trim joins the range too for those seeking an active outdoor lifestyle. It is distinguished by a more rugged design treatment than the standard SUV. Hyundai has not released powertrain details for the new Tucson at this stage but the outgoing model’s combination of hybrid and non-hybrid options suggests continuity in that part of the lineup.

New BMW 7 Series & i7 To Launch In India On September 11 – All Key Details

GaadiWaadi -

2026-BMW-7-Series-Facelift-India-2.jpg

BMW’s flagship sedans, the 7 Series and i7, get powertrain updates, a new cabin interface, 8K rear-seat screen and more advanced driver assistance in their upcoming avatars

BMW will launch the updated 7 Series and i7 in India on September 11, 2026. The facelift comes with revisions to the flagship sedan’s powertrain range, cabin, exterior design and driver assistance systems while the electric i7 gets larger batteries and higher outputs in its international specification. The India launch follows the global debut of the facelifted range back in April 2026.

BMW is yet to confirm which of the updated versions will be offered here but the current Indian range consists of the 740i M Sport and 740d M Sport while the i7 is sold in eDrive50 and M70 xDrive forms. The petrol and diesel versions have received revised outputs internationally. The 740i xDrive continues to rely on a 3.0-litre inline-six mild-hybrid petrol engine, now making 400 hp and 580 Nm.

The 740d xDrive gets a diesel version of the same 3.0-litre displacement developing 313 hp and 670 Nm. Both models retain an eight-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel drive system. The electric range receives a more substantial revision. BMW has replaced the i7 eDrive50 with the i7 xDrive50 – adding all-wheel drive and fitting a 112.4 kWh battery in place of the previous 101.7 kWh unit.

2026-BMW-7-Series-Facelift-India-1.jpg

The revised model kicks out 455 hp and 660 Nm. The range-topping i7 M70 xDrive also receives the 112.4 kWh battery. Its output rises to 680 hp from 650 hp while torque increases to as much as 1,100 Nm from 1,015 Nm. BMW has not yet confirmed whether this version will be part of the domestic lineup or not. The larger battery and sixth-gen eDrive technology are claimed to deliver more than 720 km of WLTP range on applicable electric versions.

BMW has also revised the energy management system which incorporates intelligent route planning, adaptive recuperation and charging integration to optimise energy costs. The exterior changes are relatively subtle but give the 7 Series a revised face. An illuminated kidney grille sits between crystal-style headlamps while the rear gets newly designed lighting elements. Buyers can specify M Sport or M Sport Pro packages alongside BMW Individual options such as dual-finish paintwork. Wheel sizes range from 20 to 22 inches.

2026-BMW-7-Series-Facelift-India-Interior.jpg

The cabin receives a more substantial technology update. BMW’s Panoramic iDrive system operates through Operating System X and is joined by a dedicated passenger display. Rear passengers can also get the Theatre Screen which supports 8K streaming. Other available equipment includes a Bowers & Wilkins sound system with Dolby Atmos, four-zone climate control, a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, and Executive Lounge seats.

The 7 Series also retains its focus on chassis refinement as well as the adaptive two-axle air suspension is standard while Integral Active Steering and advanced chassis control systems are available as options. The driver assistance package incorporates BMW’s Symbiotic Drive technology. Based on specification and market, the system supports partially automated driving, advanced parking functions, hands-free highway assistance at speeds of up to 130 kmph and navigation-assisted driving in city conditions.
